Adriana VelasquezAccounting SpecialistAdriana has worked for Alameda County since 1998 and as an Accounting Specialist for Nutrition Services since 2004. She expertly maintains quarterly expense reports and processes invoices for payment. We’re so lucky to have someone on staff that especially enjoys working with numbers and sleuthing out and solving discrepancies! Adriana, who is bilingual (Spanish/ English), has attended Laney and Chabot colleges locally and also the Fort Gordon school of Georgia where she gained accounting expertise and became very interested in helping others. |

Amy Glodde, R.D., M.P.H.NutritionistAs a member of the Nutrition Services School Team, Amy develops nutrition education curricula for teachers to use in their classrooms. In her role as site coordinator at three elementary schools in San Antonio neighborhood in Oakland, Amy advises teachers on how to implement the nutrition curricula and also coordinates the school’s Harvest of the Month program. Amy works closely with the teachers at her school sites to implement the Harvest of the Month Toolkit. The Toolkit is a hands-on standards based nutrition education program where students create recipes in the classroom. In addition, Amy is currently Co-President of California Conference of Local Health Department Nutritionists. Amy is a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Public Health from San Jose State University. |

ANAA REESE, R.D., DPA, MPHProgram Administrator - Community CollaborationsAnaa created Nutrition Services in 1999 for the County of Alameda to act in partnership with public (City of Oakland, State of California) and private (Kaiser and Blue Cross of California) organizations with the specific intention to motivate Alameda County residents in making positive changes associated with good dietary practices and physical activity that would improve long term health and reduce morbidity and mortality due to chronic diseases. Nutrition Services began with 3 staff; one to serve in each of the areas of Senior Nutrition, Community Wellness and School Health. Dr. Reese continues to be an active member of the management team for Nutrition Services by coordinating and supporting county-wide Collaborative efforts (such as the Kellogg and Kresge Foundations) that focus on changing the local food landscape and support improved economic development of Oakland. |

Andy OdellProgram Financial SpecialistAndy is a Program Financial Specialist who has served as the Fiscal Services Coordinator for Nutrition Services since 2006. He helps staff with many of the administrative functions of the Department including budgets, claims, contracts, personnel and financial statements and projections. Technology, database and purchasing issues also come to him on a regular basis. Andy has had a lifetime of commitment to working with youth throughout Central and Northern California in community organizations. He is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz in Economics and History. |

Annette Laverty, R.D., M.P.H.NutritionistAnnette is a Registered Dietitian who develops nutrition and physical activity educational programs with the goal of changing health behaviors and preventing chronic diseases. She creates interactive toolkits and presents fun and creative workshops to Nutrition Services’ community partners. Annette also facilitates County Nutrition Action Partners (CNAP), a collaborative of food assistance program directors, and coordinates a subcommittee of the Alameda County Worksite Wellness Group. Annette previously worked as a nutrition educator in hospitals and finds planning for disease prevention programs most rewarding. She has a Master’s degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley. |

Brenda TavaresNutrition AssistantAs a nutrition assistant, Brenda Tavares coordinates seven school sites in which she promotes our Harvest of the Month intervention and is readily available to help teachers implement our nutrition curriculum. Currently Brenda is working in Bella Vista, Manzanita Community, Manzanita Seed, Horace Mann, Fred T. Korematsu, Esperanza and her newest addition Greenleaf Elementary. Brenda previously worked for the Women’s Infants and Children program (WIC) helping women with breastfeeding and helping them make healthier changes in their families eating habits. Brenda is fluent in Spanish. |

Cindia SanchezNutrition AssistantAs a member of the Nutrition Services School Team, Cindia is a site coordinator at six elementary schools in Oakland’s Fruitvale district. Cindia collaborates with teachers on how to implement the nutrition curricula, coordinates the school’s Harvest of the Month program and promotes physical activity. In addition, Cindia assists the Healthy Living Champions for Change team with engaging parents to learn about nutrition and physical activity and make healthy changes for themselves, and their families, schools and communities. Cindia is bilingual in Spanish. |

Dale MuraiProgram SpecialistAs a coordinator for Healthy Living Champions for Change groups at several schools in East Oakland, Dale organizes and engages parents and other community members to learn about nutrition and physical activity and make healthy changes for themselves, and their families, schools and communities. She also serves as a site coordinator at an East Oakland middle school where she advises teachers on how to implement nutrition curricula and coordinates the school’s HOM program. Dale is the Nutrition Services liaison with the Safe Routes to School Program and serves on the Community Capacity Committee of the Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative (BARHII). Dale is bilingual in Spanish and has a B.A. degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona. |

Dario HunterProgram SpecialistDario Hunter is a Program Specialist with Nutrition Services charged with organizing community groups called Healthy Living Champions for Change. His work includes identifying target populations, establishing a relationship between NS and target community, recruiting participants to gather and provide support for ongoing meetings and community actions to ensure community residents have access to proper nutrition and physical activity opportunities. He promotes and facilitates this practice throughout the County through presentations and community involvement. Dario has been involved in community outreach and activism for his entire career and is also an experienced translator . Dario says what he most enjoys about his job is learning along with his groups as their collective wisdom works out solutions to the obesity epidemic in their neighborhoods. Dario is Spanish bilingual and bicultural and has served in the communities of Alameda County for over 25 years. |

Darlene Fujii, R.D., Ed.M.Senior Program Specialist – Community TeamDarlene is a Senior Program Manager who oversees Nutrition Services’ work in engaging the community to learn and build its capacity to make changes that help create healthy families, schools and neighborhoods. She also oversees Nutrition Services’ work with school-based health services working towards a vision of full service community schools. Darlene is co-chair of the Education Policy Workgroup for the Public Health Department’s Place Matters initiative and convenes the Department’s School Health Committee. In addition, she provides leadership for the youth development component of the HOPE Collaborative. Darlene holds a B.S. degree in Nutrition Science from UC Davis, and a Master’s degree in Education from Tufts University. She also is a Registered Dietitian. |

Diane Woloshin, R.D., M.S.DirectorDiane is currently the Director of Nutrition Services for the Alameda County Public Health Department. She has more than 25 years of public health and advocacy experience acting as manager of numerous large-scale public health programs and special projects. She has worked in various county health department and nonprofit agencies and most recently was the Deputy Director of the California WIC Association. Diane is a Registered Dietitian and received her Bachelors of Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from California State University at Long Beach. She is passionate about health and nutrition and promoting healthy communities and is a member of the Oakland Food Policy Council and the HOPE collaborative. |

Ericka Doolittle, R.D., M.P.H.NutritionistAs a member of the Nutrition Services School Team, Ericka develops nutrition education curricula for teachers to use in their classrooms. In her role as site coordinator at three elementary schools in East Oakland, Ericka advises teachers on how to implement the nutrition curricula and she also coordinates the school Harvest of the Month programs. In addition, Ericka serves as the Nutrition Services liaison to OUSD Nutrition Services cafeteria managers. She is a member of the BANPAC Media Subcommittee and coordinates all Nutrition Services’ social media activities. Ericka is bilingual in Spanish, and a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley. |

Isabelle VieyraCommunity Health Outreach Worker (CHOW)As a Community Health Outreach Worker for the Healthy Living Champions for Change groups in Alameda County, Isabelle engages and organizes parents and other community members to learn about nutrition and physical activity. Isabelle aka Chef Izzy often delights community members with her culinary skills, providing delicious taste tests of healthy, easy to prepare meals. She has a long history with Alameda County, having worked with county agencies since 1972, formerly as a medical assistant and providing outreach for the lead program. Isabelle is Bilingual (Spanish/ English). |

Jautan StancillNutrition AssistantAs a member of the Nutrition Services School team, Jautan is a site coordinator at four elementary schools in East and West Oakland. Jenny Dung LyNutrition AssistantAs a nutrition assistant, Jenny coordinates with Registered Dietitians and Program Specialists to recruit, plan, prepare, and deliver nutrition messages that have been developed to reach parents and community members. She also facilitates Healthy Living Champions for Change meetings, supports parent run Traffic Safety Patrol, and serves on the EARS – Education and Administrative Reporting System database development workgroup. Prior to joining Alameda County Public Health Department – Nutrition Services, Jenny worked as a Business Application Coordinator at Kaiser Permanente on the Health Connect Ambulatory Project. She also has extensive knowledge and experience working with non-profit community-based organizations to provide employment assistance and to file income taxes for community members. Jenny holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University, and is pursuing a Dietetic Technology Certificate at Merritt College. Jenny is multilingual in Vietnamese and Chinese. |

Jenny Wang, M.P.H., M.P.P.Senior Program Specialist – School TeamAs a Senior Program Specialist and the supervisor of the Nutrition Services School Team, Jenny oversees the planning, development, and coordination of all school based nutrition education and physical activity promotion interventions in our partner schools. Jenny is the liaison for the Oakland Unified School District-Nutrition Services subcontract, and is active on the OUSD Garden Council, the OUSD Nutrition Advisory Committee, the Oakland Food Web, and the Oakland School Food Alliance. Jenny also serves on the Alameda County Youth Health Collaborative, the Public Health Department’s Strategic Planning Cross Departmental Workgroup for Health Equity Community Partnerships, and the Education Policy Workgroup of the Place Matters Initiative. Jenny has joint Master degrees in Public Health and Public Policy from UC Berkeley, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. |

Joseph WhittakerNutrition AssistantAs a member of the Nutrition Services School Team, Joseph is a site coordinator in charge of four middle schools: Bret Harte, Madison, West Oakland and Roosevelt. Joseph’s primary roles are to collaborate with teachers on how to implement the nutrition curricula, coordinate the school’s Harvest of the Month program and promote physical activity. In addition, Joseph also works with the parents and school staff. Joseph previously worked in the community as a Recreation Leader with Oakland Parks & Recreation, where he learned numerous easy, fun, physical activities, and enjoyed promoting the importance of being physically active. |

Lindsay Orbeta, R.D., M.S.NutritionistLindsay is a Registered Dietitian with a Master of Science in Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. She works in OUSD middle schools to develop and co-teach nutrition education curricula in the classroom. She enjoys advising teachers on implementation, and also interfacing directly with students to deliver interactive and fun lesson plans. Lindsay has two additional roles with Nutrition Services: she provides clinical nutrition counseling to minors at Juvenile Hall, and also serves on the Advocacy Committee of the California Conference of Local Health Department Nutritionists (CCLHDN ). Lindsay has extensive teaching experience. She has worked as a K-8 grade P.E. teacher, and in her spare time, presents nutritional seminars for various corporations in the Bay Area. She has over 6 years experience providing nutritional counseling for athletes, from the novice to elite. Lindsay is herself an avid triathlete, and enjoys both training and racing in Olympic Distance events. |

Manny FloresProgram Financial SpecialistManny is the State Share Coordinator for the Nutrition Services Program that provides financial analysis and management for the state share portion of the budget. Manny provides program, technical assistance, reviews and evaluates functions centered on the identification, collection, tracking and documentation of state share to assist the management team of the Nutrition Services Program. He also acts as liaison with those outside of the program, ensures that program regulations and procedures are followed, and plans for sustainability of existing program services and future program growth. Manny has many years of private and public experience in the Accounting and Finance field. He has an M.B.A. degree in Management from Golden Gate University with undergraduate minors in Accounting and Computer Operations. |

Mary Collett, R.D., M.P.H.NutritionistMary coordinates Healthy Living Councils in several senior and recreation centers in Oakland and San Leandro and works with seniors to ensure that conditions exist for older adults to eat healthy and stay physically active while supporting them in making healthy changes for themselves and their environment. As part of the Nutrition Services team, Mary develops nutrition education materials and presents train-the-trainer workshops for Nutrition Services’ community partners. Mary also serves as a member of the subcommittee of the Alameda County Worksite Wellness Group and is the department’s liaison to the United Seniors of Oakland and Alameda County Healthy Living Festival Steering Committee. Mary previously worked for the American Heart Association as the Vice President of Community Programs for the Western States Affiliate. Mary is a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley. |

Nori Grossmann, R.D., M.P.H.NutritionistAs a member of the Nutrition Services School Team, Nori develops nutrition education materials for teachers to use in their classrooms. In her role as site coordinator at three elementary schools in Oakland’s Laurel district, Nori supports and advises teachers on how to incorporate nutrition into daily classroom activities and coordinates the school’s Harvest of the Month program. In addition, Nori serves as the Nutrition Services liaison to Oakland Unified School District Nurses and Garden Coordinators. She also provides nutrition counseling to minors at Juvenile Hall. She is currently Co-President of the California Conference of Local Health Department Nutritionists. Her service in Peace Corps Guatemala was her first job working as a public health nutritionist. Following this she was the WIC Director at La Clinica de la Raza in Oakland. Nori is a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley and is bilingual in Spanish. |

Rafael CortezCommunity Health Outreach Worker (CHOW)As a Community Health Outreach Worker for the Healthy Living Champions for Change groups in Alameda County, Rafael engages and organizes parents and other community members to learn about nutrition and physical activity in order for them to make a healthy change for themselves, their families, schools and communities. Rafael also coordinates and helps manage the School Safety Traffic Patrol at 5 different schools sites in Oakland including: Bella Vista, Manzanita Seed, Manzanita Community, Global Family and Fruitvale Elementary Schools. With his assistance the Healthy Living Champions for Change sponsored school safety patrols at Bella Vista and Fruitvale both won the prestigious Northcutt trophy in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Rafael previously worked as a Health Care Options Representative at of all the Social Service sites in Alameda County as well as in La Clinica de la Raza in Oakland. Rafael is Bilingual (Spanish/ English) and Bicultural. |

Robyn Sakamoto, R.D., M.P.H.NutritionistAs the Elev8 nutritionist, Robyn develops the nutrition services offerings at five middle school based health centers (SBHC). She works with school and SBHC staff, families, and students to develop and sustain the implementation of nutrition-focused initiatives and programs at all five sites. Her areas of focus include access to healthy foods, peer-to-peer nutrition education, and garden-based education. Robyn is a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Washington. |

Rusty Hopewell, R.D., M.S.N.NutritionistAs a member of the Nutrition Services Team, Rusty works on the Elev8 initiative to help coordinate nutrition and physical activity offerings at school-based health centers located at select middle and high schools with the Oakland Unified School District. Rusty has worked in the past as a nutrition educator for San Francisco Unified School District’s Nutrition Education Project, and as a manager for the HUSD nutrition education program. Rusty leverages his background working in schools and nutrition services to implement nutrition-focused initiatives and programs within his school sites, and to coordinate the school-based health centers with the schools’ daily activities. |
